Supervisor Generator, Plant Equipment and Metalwork Maintenance
(post grade LCH-7, local national)
HQ CMDT/DPW/Facility and maintenance section
POST CONTEXT
The HQ CMDT Department of Public Works Generator/Plant and metal work Maintenance Section operates and maintains approximately 54 diesel generators located at NATO/EUFOR camps throughout the theater and 9 items of plant, construction and maintenance equipment Supervises personnel on Generators, Metalwork and Plant equipment
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on all NATO HQ diesel generators (4 to 500 kVA) 54 in total.
  • Plan maintenance schedules and assess economical operating possibilities for the equipment; advise DPW on the economic feasibility of repairing equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial work on generators, including auto-synchronous control systems.
  • Supervises and carry out both top and major overhauls of diesel engines and alternators
  • Responsible for the quality control of all work carried out by the generator and plant section
  • Maintains service/maintenance records and spares allocation for all generators
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all construction plant equipment
  • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial work on construction plant equipment, to include cranes, earth moving equipment and excavators.
  • Supervises metalwork fabrication and the repair of existing steel structures.
  • Supervises contractor repair when necessary
  • Maintains service/maintenance records and spares allocation for all construction plant equipment
  • Maintains lifting tackle and lifting equipment, inspection reports in conjunction with an authorized institute for testing.
  • Maintain adequate stores of equipment and materials. Advice DPW of required replacements
  • Provide related assistance as required to NATO HQ Sa/EUFOR subordinate units.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum three years experience as a generator/plant mechanic supervising the operation, maintenance and engine repair for diesel engines, hydraulic components and computer balanced electrical systems. Must be qualified as a welder/metalworker
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering. Completed engine rebuild management training to include operation and maintenance of auto-synchronous control systems.
  • English: minimum professional (3333)
  • Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian: native language (5555)
  • ADP knowledge: Able to use MS Word and Excel.
